Countdown to Exhibition

The opening of A Town Unearthed’s first major exhibition ‘Earth and Vision’ is less than two weeks away.

As its title suggests, the exhibition will focus on the visual. It will be a multi-media experience, including video, photographs, paintings, drawings, maps and a ‘magic lantern’ slide show. There will also be artefacts on show and some surprising ways of revealing what the Villa excavations have unearthed.

Curator Brian Hawkins intended the exhibition to encompass diverse aspects of Folkestone’s heritage. He explains: “Through a focus on the details of archaeological research in Folkestone between 1538 and 2012, the exhibition will challenge and extend public conventions and methods of presenting art and archaeology to the public.”

The exhibition is free and suitable for all ages. We guarantee there will be something in it to fascinate everyone.

Earth Vision will run from April 16th to May 13th 2012, at the Sassoon Gallery in Folkestone Library. For full details go to Activities – ‘EARTH AND VISION’.

For a sneak preview of some of the images, go to the Earth and Vision Preview Gallery.
