Site Supervisor’s excavation diary – final week (October 30th to November 3rd, 2010)

Sunday 31st October.  KP, AR and 10 volunteers

     Light rain in the morning.  Completed back-filling of the courtyard area.  Sorted out finds from the excavation.

Monday 1st November.  KP, BC, RH and 3 volunteers

     General tidy of site.  Covered villa walls with plastic sheeting.  Continued checking paperwork.  Did final sorting of finds.  Dry all day.

Tuesday 2nd November.  KP, BC, RH and 5 volunteers

     Used machine to back fill area of the villa and tidy up remaining spoil-heap.  Continued checking of paperwork.   Continued finds washing on site.  Off-hired the machine at 1.30.

Wednesday 3rd November.   KP, BC, RH and 3 volunteers

     General tidy-up of site.   Removed spare fencing and redefined compound.   Continued checking paperwork.  Machine collected from site at 3.30.  Spare fencing not collected by 4.45 when site was abandoned.   Phoned AR with finds progress report. 

All fieldwork now completed.
